New Order "Age of Consent"

Grupo/Interprete: New Order
Canción: Age of Consent
Disco:  Power, Corruption & Lies (1983)
Estilo: Pop Rock Alternativo, dance alternativo.

Segundo disco de la banda resultante del trágico final de Joy Division y su canción insignia.

Won't you please let me go
These words lie inside they hurt me so
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what I want to do
I'm not the kind that needs to tell you
Just what you want me to

I saw you this morning
I thought that you might like to know
I received your message in full a few days ago
I understood every word that it said
And now that I've actually heard it
You're going to regret

And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what you want me to
You're not the kind that needs to tell me
About the birds and the bees

Do you find this happens all the time
Crucial point one day becomes a crime
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what I want to do
I'm not the kind that needs to tell you

I've lost you [x5]
I've lost you [x5]
I've lost you [x5]

The Cars "Too Late"

Grupo/Interprete:The Cars
Canción: Too Late
Disco: Move like this
Estilo: Pop Rock

i could dream about
things that never end
wishes on a star
and something round the bend
i remember times
things were pretty clear
i felt the pressure pawns
threw away the fears
i believe in you
and your sultry side
and i would never jump
your never ending ride
my feet are on the ground
i'm in the lost and found
i might sway and tip
but i'll never jump the ship
i'm never gonna get that crazy
i'm never gonna be shot down
you know it takes a lot to faze me
whenever you're around
and you say
it's too late
and all the storms in life
you have to contemplate
and you say
it's too late
when the mornings rise
you got to celebrate yeah
well you may cross the line
or suck a clementine
but i know for sure
i need you never more
there's dreams on the fridge
there's lovers on the binge
nobody really knows
that's just the way it goes
i'm never gonna get that crazy
i'm never gonna be shot down
you know it takes a lot to faze me
whenever you're around
and you say
it's too late
and all the storms in life
you got to contemplate
and you say
it's too late
when the mornings rise
you got to celebrate
yeah yeah
well i can take a fall
or hang it on the wall
no matter what you think
i'm always on the brink
but you can throw a twist
and i can move like this
they give you lots of slack
then something pulls you back
i'm never gonna get that crazy
i'm never gonna be shot down
you know it takes a lot to faze me
whenever you're around
and you say
it's too late
and all the storms in life
you got to contemplate
you say
it's too late
when the mornings rise
you got to celebrate yeah
yeah yeah

Squeeze "Up the junction"

Grupo/Interprete: Squeeze
 Canción: Up the junction
Disco: Cool for the cats (1979)
 Estilo: New Wave

"Cool for the Cats" es el segundo disco (y uno de los mejores) de esta banda londinense y Up the function es una de las mejores canciones del disco. Se ve claramente la influencia de The Beatles y The Kinks, algo que  Chris Diffort y Glenn Tilbrook nunca han negado. New wave londinense ahora que está de moda Londres y la música británica, después de la ceremonia de apertura de los JJOO

I never thought it would happen
with me and the girl from clapham
out on the windy common
that night i ain't forgotten
when she dealt out the rations
with some or other passions
i said “you are a lady”
“perhaps” she said. “i may be”
We moved in to a basement
with thoughts of our engagement
we stayed in by the telly
although the room was smelly
we spent our time just kissing
the railway arms we're missing
but love had got us hooked up
and all our time it took up
I got a job with stanley
he said i'd come in handy
and started me on monday
so i had a bath on sunday
i worked eleven hours
and bought the girl some flowers
she said she'd seen a doctor
and nothing now could stop her
I worked all through the winter
the weather brass and bitter
i put away a tenner each week to make her better
and when the time was ready
we had to sell the telly
late evenings by the fire
with little kicks inside her
This morning at four fifty
i took her rather nifty
down to an incubator
where thirty minutes later
she gave birth to a daughter
within a year a walker
she looked just like her mother
if there could be another
And now she's two years older
her mother's with a soldier
she left me when my drinking
became a proper stinging
the devil came and took me
from bar to street to bookie
no more nights by the telly
no more nights nappies smelling
Alone here in the kitchen
i feel there's something missing
i'd beg for some forgiveness
but begging's not my business
and she won't write a letter
although i always tell her
and so it's my assumption
i'm really up the junction

Belle and Sebastian "Another Sunny Day"

Grupo/Interprete: Belle and Sebastian
Canción: Another Sunny Day
Disco: The Life Pursuit (2006)
Estilo: Indie Pop

Another sunny day, I met you up in the garden You were digging plants, I dug you, beg your pardon I took a photograph of you in the herbaceous border It broke the heart of men and flowers and girls and trees Another rainy day, we're trapped inside with a train set Chocolate on the boil, steamy windows when we met You've got the attic window looking out on the cathedral And on a Sunday evening bells ring out in the dusk Another day in June, we'll pick eleven for football We're playing for our lives the referee gives us fuck all I saw you in the corner of my eye on the sidelines Your dark mascara bids me to historical deeds Everybody's gone you picked me up for a long drive We take the tourist route the nights are light until midnight We took the evening ferry over to the peninsula We found the avenue of trees went up to the hill That crazy avenue of trees, I'm living there still There's something in my eye a little midge so beguiling Sacrificed his life to bring us both eye to eye I heard the Eskimos remove obstructions with tongues, dear You missed my eye, I wonder why, I didn't complain You missed my eye, I wonder why, please do it again The lovin is a mess what happened to all of the feeling? I thought it was for real; babies, rings and fools kneeling And words of pledging trust and lifetimes stretching forever So what went wrong? It was a lie, it crumbled apart Ghost figures of past, present, future haunting the heart
