El pasado 15 de diciembre de 2009, Hoodoo Gurus publicaron el Single "Craking on" adelanto de su ultimo disco "Purity of Esssence", Interesante nombre, una vuelta a sus origenes, pero con una produccion y sonido mas acorde con los tiempos. Este es el segundo disco despues de su vuelta en 2004 y me parece una de los regresos mas honrados, interesantes y prometedores de todos los que se han producido en los ultimos tiempos. El disco ha sido producido por Hoodoo Gurus y publicado por Hoodoo Gurus Records.
Tras el aparente fracaso de “blow your cool!” y la ruptura con la discográfica Elektra, Los Hoodoo Gurus ficharon por RCA. Fruto de esa unión nacieron dos grandes discos: “Magnum cum Lauder” (1989) y “kinky” (1991). Posiblemente estamos ante el mejor momento de la banda dos buenos discos, con buenas ventas y la producción de los discos por los propios Hoodoo Gurus.
En un “post” anterior puse la canción “I don´t mind”. En este la canción con la que empezaba el disco “Magnum cum Louder”, “Come anytime”

Hoodoo Gurus buscaron en el garage rock, power pop y surf, para crear su estilo propio, su inspiración fue la musica estadounidense y de hecho a mediados y finales de los años 80 eran considerados como la mejor banda del nuevo rock americano de la epoca.
Le Hoodoo Gurus (como se denominó originalmente) fueron liderados por el cantante y compositor Dave Faulkner, quien junto con el bateria, James Baker, Rod Radalj y Kimble Rendall fueron los componentes originales de la banda (tres guitarras, sin bajo)

Treinta añitos cumple este disco de AC/DC. Back in black es el disco mas vendido de la Banda de los hermanos Young, el primero sin Bon Scott y el primero con Brian Johnson. Y la cancion, una de las mas conocidas de AC/DC y una de las mas pop, si he dicho pop. ¿que pasa?

Este año se cumple el vigesimo quinto aniversario de la publicacion de uno de los mejores discos de la historia de la musica: Mars need guitars. Segundo disco de esta fenomenal banda de Sidney y una de las canciones mas emblematicas del disco.

Banda formada en Australia en 1981 y disuelta en 1990. Aunque la canción que se acompaña está dentro de lo que se puede llamar power pop, la mayoría de sus canciones tienen planteamientos que las alejan del power pop. En los años 2003 y 2004 se han editado recopilatorios de la banda.
