Banda escocesa de indie pop formada en Escocia en 1994, similares a Belle and Sebastian. Tienen publicados cinco discos, el último de ellos en 2004. Como dato curioso (aunque seguro que que es sabido por todos) llamaron así a la banda como homenaje al ciclista Perico Delgado.

Con este nombre tan poco original se presenta esta banda de Brooklyn (Nueva York) a los cuales la crítica no deja de elogiarles. Lo cierto es que son buenos y divertidos, pero estando The Pain of Being Pure at Heart, dudo mucho que sean el mejor disco del año.

Fenomenal canción de esta gran banda, formada en 2005 y disuelta en octubre de 2008 por los problemas de salud de Dorian Cox. Que esta gente tiene un estilo muy cercano a la New Wave y las bandas de finales de los 70 y principios de los 80 está claro, pero concretamente en esta canción la influencia y el parecido con Blondie es brutal. Es una gran banda, que lamento profundamente se haya disuelto y quevolvera a este blog.

La cantante de una banda de Brisbane llamada The Grates participa en este disco homenaje a The Go-Between y en especial a Grant McLennan, el cual falleció en 2006. El disco comienza con esta canción que fue el primer single de la banda allá por 1977 y que en su día se posteó en este blog.

Como dato curioso el bajista Daniel Lorca es español, si bien se trasladó a Nueva York siendo un niño. Es posible que el gran público no conozca a esta gente, pero lo cierto es que son más conocidos de lo que parece, pues algunas de sus canciones más comerciales y ñoñas han sido banda sonora de series norteamericanas, como por ejemplo The O.C

Como es la primera canción que puse en este blog, no voy a repetirla, por lo que sólo pondré la versión de The Mockers. A lo largo de estas semanas intentaré poner los originales y las versiones realizadas en este disco.
