Grupo: The Drums Canción: Let´s Go Surfing Disco: The Drums EP (2009) Estilo: Post Punk
Con este nombre tan poco original se presenta esta banda de Brooklyn (Nueva York) a los cuales la crítica no deja de elogiarles. Lo cierto es que son buenos y divertidos, pero estando The Pain of Being Pure at Heart, dudo mucho que sean el mejor disco del año.

Los Pistones no fueron una de las grandes bandas de la llamada "movida", si bien llegaron a tener algún pequeño éxito casualmente con sus peores canciones. Esta es una de las canciones perdidas de esta gente. Sin ser una fenomenal canción (tampoco es mala), refleja el espíritu de aquellos años: canciones divertidas y directas.

Fenomenal canción de esta gran banda, formada en 2005 y disuelta en octubre de 2008 por los problemas de salud de Dorian Cox. Que esta gente tiene un estilo muy cercano a la New Wave y las bandas de finales de los 70 y principios de los 80 está claro, pero concretamente en esta canción la influencia y el parecido con Blondie es brutal. Es una gran banda, que lamento profundamente se haya disuelto y quevolvera a este blog.

Cuando Felipe disolvió los Fresones Rebeldes montó esta historia. Más de los mismo con otro nombre. No es malo, tampoco bueno, es lo que es. Hace falta que España recupere musicalmente para el gran público ese espíritu musical de los 80 y los 90 y que los triunfitos y sus historias se vayan a su casa a que los escuche su madre.
Grupo: Patience Hodgson Canción: Lee Remick Disco: Write yours adventure down (A tribute to the Go-Between) 2007.
La cantante de una banda de Brisbane llamada The Grates participa en este disco homenaje a The Go-Between y en especial a Grant McLennan, el cual falleció en 2006. El disco comienza con esta canción que fue el primer single de la banda allá por 1977 y que en su día se posteó en este blog.

Segunda aparicion de esta banda de power pop de Perth (Australia) Creada en 1989, está activa en la actualidad, aunque sin producción discográfica desde 2003. En este post adjunto esta emocionante canción que se encuentra en un EP de 1991, una de la mejores canciones de la banda y una de las mejores del power pop australiano, junto con alguna de The Pyramidiacs, The Stem y DM3.

Banda de San Francisco cuya existencia fue de 1990 a 1994. A primera escucha se ve la influencia de Queen, pero la banda de Andy Sturmer va más allá y lo cierto es que su sonido recuerda a bandas de finales de los 70 y primeros 80, como Cheap Trick, Big Star o XTC. Banda formada en Australia en 1981 y disuelta en 1990. Aunque la canción que se acompaña está dentro de lo que se puede llamar power pop, la mayoría de sus canciones tienen planteamientos que las alejan del power pop. En los años 2003 y 2004 se han editado recopilatorios de la banda.
